The GEC Long Service Association was founded in the days of GEC (hence its name) for the benefit of those who had worked for 40 or more years with the company. This was later reduced to 20 years. The purpose of the association is to foster social contact between members (most of whom are now retired) and to provide a yearly Christmas dinner for members.
The association is currently run by a committee of 6 persons (elected at a yearly AGM). The President is Andy Cooper, MD of GE Vernova’s Power Conversion and Storage business in the UK. The association is supported by funds from GE Vernova, which is used to support admin costs and subsidise the members’ Christmas Dinner.
Membership is open free of charge to anyone who has worked for GEC/Quartzelec and their successor companies on the Mill Road and Boughton Road sites for more than 20 years or who has retired from the company.
From time to time the association or other associated groups may organise evants which we will publicise here
